Students competed in the C. Henry Smith Oratorical Contest at Eastern Mennonite University, an annual contest, established in 1974 by the directors of the C. Henry Smith Trust. The contest offers students an opportunity to discuss the application of the Christian peace position to contemporary concerns in an 8-10-minute speech. The winner of the school contest will go on to compete at the bi-national level against winners from other Mennonite-related colleges in the US and Canada.
raphic design students recently won 17 regional ADDY Awards, as they are known, presented by the American Advertising Federation of Greater Frederick. The annual competition recognizes creative excellence in advertising by both students and professionals. This is the 15th year in a row that Susquehanna graphic design students have participated in the ompetition and come away winners.
Kutztown University has conferred degrees on more than 475 students during the summer, fall and winter semesters. Kutztown University announces degree conferment twice a year, once in the winter and once in the summer. Commencement exercises are held in May and December; however, students finish the requirements for graduation throughout the entire year. The following students have been awarded degrees since the spring 2017 announcement. The cumulative grade point average necessary for honors distinction is: with honor (cum laude) 3.40; with high honor (magna cum laude) 3.60 and with highest honor (summa cum laude) 3.80. Students listed multiple times have been awarded more than one degree. Students who have requested privacy (FERPA) are not listed publicly.
Elizabethtown (Pa.) College announced the names of students whose outstanding academic performances have earned them the recognition of being included on the fall 2017 dean's list. Students on the dean's list are full-time undergraduate students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.60 or better in 14 or more credit hours, of which at least 12 credits are letter-graded course work.
To be eligible for the President's List, students must earn a 4.0 GPA for the semester and complete at least nine semester hours of academic credit with no incompletes.

Josh Johnson headlined four Kutztown University men's basketball players on the 2017 All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Team Thursday, as he was named this year's PSAC Eastern Division Defensive Athlete of the Year. Johnson and junior point guard Ethan Ridgeway were named All-PSAC East First Team. Redshirt-sophomore Anthony Lee and redshirt-senior Ryan Connolly repeated last year's honors with All-PSAC Second Team recognition.
The Kutztown University men's basketball team has chosen three senior student-athletes to be team captains for the upcoming 2016-17 season, to lead the Golden Bears to another hopeful division title-winning, and NCAA Tournament-bound season. Austin Beidelman and Josh Johnson return as captains for the second straight year, and will be joined by fellow senior Ryan Connolly.
Five Lycoming College students have organized and volunteered for weekly Game Time offerings at the James V. Brown Library in Williamsport, Pa. Game Time is a program that encourages preschool and elementary-aged children to interact and learn with Lycoming College students by playing various games in the childrens wing of the library.
Kutztown University students, faculty and staff worked in volunteer service to honor Dr. Martin Luther King's legacy on Jan. 20, 2014. Volunteers worked throughout Berks County and were joined by thousands of volunteers across the country for a national day of service.
The Albright College Domino Players presented "Devious Laughter," a production of short plays, Sept. 25 to 28, 2014
